Ten Tips To Improve Your Personal Growth

Here are 10 tips you can incorporate into your daily life to improve your personal growth.

1. Write about the things you would like to improve.

Do you want to be better at a specific skill? Discover more. Be more meditative? Find out more about this in books. Want to be more efficient? Spontaneous? Outgoing? Confident? All these topic areas are provided by books upon books that you can research and by reading about it, it'll be in your thoughts.

2. Find a mentor.

Mentors could be anyone from a friend who has the experience and knowledge to impart knowledge to you, or one who has more experience and will be willing to coach you (in exchange for you doing work for them). Mentorship is the fastest way to gain knowledge.

3. Refrain from reflection at the close of each day.

You should be aware of the things you could do better should you decide to do self improvement. The only way to know what you can do to improve is when you reflect and ask yourself where and how you still need some work.

4. Develop a solid practice routine.

It's your actions that create your results rather than the other way around. You cannot live one way and expect to one day be a different person. It is essential to develop daily habits which allow you to take the changes you wish to see.

5. Find others to inspire you to train and push yourself.

Self-development is not a solo game. The most effective self improvement can be done with other people. Spend time with other people who are working on the same issues as you and you'll grow with them at a faster rate than if you had attempted to accomplish everything on your own.

6. Establish a reward/punishment mechanism.

This is necessary for people who must break bad routines. Sometimes, it's a reward (or punishment) that is the key to the distinction between rapid and immediate change, and ongoing fleeting promises.

7. Be honest with yourself

It is difficult to create any real change by speaking about it. This is what people find most difficult. It's much easier to purchase self-development books, carry it around, and then say, "I'm working on being more present," while staying constantly on your phone to text your friends about the ways you're working to be more present. You have to really be open with yourself. You are the judge.

8. Take inspiration from role models.

Self-development can be a challenge. It's essential to surround yourself with people who can help you find inspiration, motivation, and even daily reminders about the best way to go forward.

9. You can measure your improvement.

My teacher instructed me to not test it if it's not achievable. It took me a while to grasp what that meant. No matter how abstract the item you'd like to tackle you must find ways to track the progress you've made. It is the only way you can know whether you are moving on the right track and when/where you need to change direction.

10. Consistency is the most important thing.

personal-improvement doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and effort. Consistency is the key to bringing about meaningful change--and this is what makes the process so difficult for people. It's not like you take and pill and you're done. It requires more than one attempt to get "fixed". Self-development is an ongoing habit and lifestyle.
